About

Hi there,
I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer, living in Lancashire, UK. I love to travel and capture what nature has on offer, from coastal locations to mountains, lochs and lakes, and even, since lockdown, wildlife.
Photography has been my passion since I bought my first 110 Halina camera when I was 14 years old. I then progressed to various compact film cameras over the years, and my hobby became more serious when I received my first SLR camera, a Canon EOS 300, in 1999. I then jumped on the digital bandwagon and I still use the Canon systems as cameras of choice.
I take photos purely because I love to do so. It is my passion. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy making them. I have been lucky enough to be published in books, magazines and calendars, and this encourages me to strive harder to improve my work. It is lovely to know that somebody else appreciates my work.
I make all my images with the assistance of various Neutral Density filters, mainly a mix of Lee filters and Formatt Firecrest filters. I try to capture the image in-camera and I have been known to sit in one place for quite some time if I think the light is going to do what I would like it to do. Patience, or stubbornness, often pays off, though there I do come home sometimes without that image I wanted.
I do not use HDR or AI software products. Instead I avidly watch weather forecasts, tide times, etc, and try to be out at the best time for the image I wish to capture. I am a bit geeky when it comes to checking maps too, and one of my favourite gadgets is the little Google Man who can be dropped onto the map, to check somewhere out before I go. Also, The Photographer's Ephermeris is a great program for checking where the sun will rise and set on any given day.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting my website. I do hope you see something that you like. Your support is very much appreciated.
